Can the system be retrofitted?Alex Pollard
Yes, our system is easily retrofitted within existing buildings/developments. The iMist system is installed much easier than traditional systems because of the flexibility of its components.

Has the iMist system passed relevant testing?Alex PollardYes, the iMist system has full system test reports available, for both, BS8458:2015 & DD8458-1:2010; as well as UL & ULC component testing, with certificates to support this.
How big are the nozzles and hoses?Alex Pollard
The hole required for the nozzle is 76mm, and the nozzle protrudes from the ceiling by 22mm. The hoses are measured at 15mm with a 22mm connection.
How big is the pump?Alex PollardThe pumps come in two sizes, for residential and domestic properties. Domestic pumps are: Height – 400mm, Depth – 300mm, Length – 500mm, Weight – 35KG. Residential pumps measure to: Height – 500mm, Depth – 300mm, Length – 500mm, Weight – 80KG. Please note, you will need to allow extra space around the pump for installation and pipework.
How do water mist fire suppression systems work?Tauren CorsinieThe iMist suppression system and traditional fire sprinkler systems work in the same way when it comes to activation when there is a fire. Both systems wet the surface of the fuel, and the surrounding area, to cool and suppress the fire like a blanket of water. However, only the water mist fire suppression systems work in all three ways simultaneously, with minimal water to extinguish a fire;
- Upon activation of a water mist nozzle, the system will begin to discharge high pressure water mist. The mist will fill the 16m2 area (per nozzle) with a fine mist – which will travel around the room, dampen all surfaces it can get to and thus, restrict fire spreading.
- When the water is discharged at a high pressure, the room temperature is reduced dramatically due to a reaction between the fast-moving colder air molecules and water molecules against the heat from the fire, much like cold air displacing hot air.
- As the water mist has direct contact with the flame, it turns into steam. The steam particles then displace the oxygen particles around the fire and thus, suffocates the fire.
